Sheila here...

So I am sitting here in this water logged apartment waiting for our real estate guy Steven to call me and let me know my revised move in date. When he called yesterday to say that our floors won't be ready until Monday at the earliest, I was crushed. I am anxious to move from here! Your home should be a place of peace and rest. Instead, we are dealing with a flodded kitchen, mold growing on the walls, and the foulest odor imaginable. I feel like we are sitting inside a septic tank. Then to hear it will be at least one more day is very frustrating. I just got tired of waiting and called Steve and he said that his brother is on a conference call and as soon as he gets off, he'll call the wood floor people to give me a date. Grrrr! The cats are not going crazy, which is a plus, but I am. It seems like I will be packing forever, though I know that isn't the case. In fact, if it all can be finished today, I'd be in heaven. That way though I'd still be upset for being stuck here in this crappy apartment, at least all the responsibilities have been taken care of. Not having Nick here due to school is quite a stressor as well. Let me get back to packing.

New day!

Sheila here...

A new year and new beginnings. We all say that and then by next week, every resolution is forgotten. Well I'm trying. I don't have any radical resolutions, but rather mini irritations of 2005 that I'd like to get rid of. I started yesterday by letting go of a past hurt that I shared with a sorority sister. She may not have released the incident, but we did have a conversation for the first time in about 8 months, so we are getting somewhere. I just don't have time for the drama, frankly. I am trying to work on procrastination as well. Nik and I are moving to the beach in just a few days, but really and truly we JUST started really packing. In the course of one day, we really put our heads to it and we got a lot done. I don't know if we thought the moving fairies were going to do it for us before.

Speaking of moving, we will be moving with a FREE, larger than we had, television. We came home from the grocery store on Saturday only to find that someone had put out a decent sized television. I didn't think anyone would get rid of a working television, but Nick wasn't too sure. After hauling it inside, it turned out that it worked just fine. Nick figures someone got a REALLY large screen tv for Christmas and just put this one out. Interesting...

Or New Year's weekend was pretty sweet. We went on a picnic with a friend and her boyfriend early in the evening before heading to the home of one of my sisters. She's significantly older than me, so I wasn't sure the party would be our thing, but to our surprise, people were really getting down. My sister and I share the same birthday, so counting down to '06 was especially exciting for both of us. Then we danced and danced. Goes to show you, older people, even ones in their seventies, can party :). After wards we went to hte home of of of Nick's teachers. We sat around a firepit dug into the ground in the backyard and reminisced over the past year. We got back home at about 3, pretty early for me, but hey, I'm getting old :).

For my birthday, Nick took me to a restaurant in South Beach. We had rested at home till it was way past dinner, expecting that restaurants would remain open to the wee hours. Well when we got on the beach, we saw this wasn't the case. I don't know if it was the fact that the beach had partied like it was 1999 and everyone needed rest or what, but restaurants were closing and we feared we'd be going hungry because the supermarkets were of course closed as well. At the last minute we found a tapas restaurant and it was DELICIOUS! Thanks Nick for a fab birthday :)

I'll post pics soon. Right now it is back to packing!
