Another beautiful beach day
Sunday, December 28, 2008
Living in Miami Beach is so darn fabulous. It is December and we have gone to the beach two days in a row. the weather has been so lovely and precious. Yesterday we went out the beach and Nick had a swim. Sheila decided it was too chilly (75 degrees) to swim, so she took pics instead. Fab! Fab! Fab! Nick swam like a big fish and then shivered like a little fish. Heh!

Today, we headed out to the Scooter Store (http://www.miamiallstarscooterrentals.com) to buy a used scooter. Driving around our small town isn't bad, but now that the tourists have returned, traffic is starting to get hectic. Besides, a scooter is the quintessential beach vehicle. We can dip and dodge out between cars and still look fly :). We settled on a red one, though Sheila isn't the biggest fan of red. Since we will be getting it painted white, it wasn't such a big deal. Right now it is being serviced by the mechanic. We had hours on our hands and we walked from our beach (11th) down to South Pointe. Along the way, we basked in the wonderful sunlight, delighted in the sand creations of children and adults alike, prayed for dead jelly fish, and admired the happiness flowing through the people. There were several sandbars created today, so we saw several instances where one person was in water to his/her waist and another person in close proximity had water only to his/her ankles. If it wasn't for the fact that we brought no suits, we would have frolicked with the best of them. We made our way down to South Pointe just in time to see some ships going out. The long rock pier provided great sesating to watch the orchestra of ship, water, sea bed, and the laws of nature. As the massive ship moved through the water, the water slowly was drawn up to the ship, revealing the sandy sea bed. It's amazing to see. And jut like that, whoosh, the ocean was back with a vengeance. It was amazing. Our rock climbing/scrambling adventure was good too. Besides pictures we also have a cut on Sheila's ankle to prove our trevails.

Making our way back to 11th, we passed Nikki Beach which was pumping music and fabulosity all around. Good weather, good music, and good people make for really good times...

We love to scooter :)
Saturday, May 19, 2007
Our next door neighbor, the great M. Diddy, is going back to New York the summer. From what we hear, Fire Island is all the rage. We have been saddened by the leving of our col neighbors, so we've tried to have all types of adventures since we found out he was leaving. In April we attended a concert, Springfest 2007, together. We rocked out like ROCKSTARS! The previous weekend, we had done some community service at Virginia Key . For our pledge to society, we were awarded VIP tickets to the concert. We were treated to food and drinks, as well as very comfortale seating as we jammed along. We had to admit to urselves, though, that we had to be getting old because we didn't know more than half of the songs. We really cannot see the sense in learning about love from teenagers (Pretty Ricky), or going through the hard knock life with, say, Mike Jones. So this was probably the lastconcert of that type for us.

Yesterday, we took advantage of the access we have to scooters here on South Beach and we invited Diddy and his girlfriend to go riding with us. We stopped at a park in mid beach and the rain began. We waited for about 15 minutes, hiding under an old strangler fig that provided pretty good protection until the wind started picking up. Feeling that we were already a quarter wet, and there was no end in sight, we ran into the rain and scooted about in the pouring rain. Of course the rain stopped in about 5 minutes. If only we had some more patience. But then again, the experience may not have been as much fun. We spent a couple of hours admiring the ouses and estates in mid beach. We got home and our hand were numb..

Today we went out again, though we spent less time scooting and more time hanging out on South Pointe, the southernmost portion of Miami Beach. At one point, two large cruise ships went out and we tried to run out onto the sea floor before the powerful sea swallowed us whole. We didn't make it down fast enough to ease our fears of not making it back in time. Check out the pictures to see us frantically scrambling up the jagged rocks. It's hard to describe how perfect the day way. We are so very thankful to enjoy such a sweet lyfe (our own special twist on life). We aren't living in the lap of luxury, but we are doing our very best to constantly live in gratefulness and happiness.

Our first spa party!!
Saturday, February 24, 2007

Nicholas had his first bridal spa party today. A regular client took Nick up on his offer to throw a spa party in her home and it was a smashing success. Along with a caterer, Taste Buds Deli, Nicholas and another masseur, Walter, rubbed 6 women to utter enchantment. Those women were having a great time and it wasn't only the mojitos talking. We were all surprised by a stripper who wanted us to all know for sure that his package was all real. We have the picture to prove it as well.

We forsee many great things happening in Love Life Massage's future. Yes!!!

Its getting cool in here.

Today was a great day for us. Our air conditioning ws finally fixed. Living in South Florida in the summertime with no ac gave us the horribles. Our house was 95 degrees for almost two weeks. I mentioned how hot it was about 30 times a day, and I know that made Sheila even hotter. It was so hot we were sweating buckets in our sleep... eww.

It was also a cool day because we are stepping up to a new level of technology. We recently got a digital camera so that Sheila could document her fabulous school work, but we have found it is also great to document (in amazing clarity) the adventures we have (including every pore on our face).

We also bought a laptop for home and school. Since we were getting a laptop I was determined to have wireless internet...it is 2006 afterall. So the box said "easy to install." Well what a lie that was. After 3 and a half hours and two calls to India, we were finally able to set it up on our own. The customer service call center was farmed out and our "helpers" kept asking us brilliant questions like "is your intenet connected yet?" After we said we were working on it, he let us try for about 16 seconds before he put pressure on us to be better computer geeks from half way around the world. We ended up very frustrated and no farther along with their help. My wife, with her beauty and brains, was able to connect us in her own brilliant way and we are now enjoying the beauty of having the internet eveywhere. Technology rocks, as long as it works. So here's to being frustrated, and fascinated with things we were never thinking of before they were invented. And once again Thank God for AC!

Phone fixed - school is almost over

Sheila here...

Nick fixed my phone by keeping it in a hot area where it was allowed to dry. Apparently we really should have just donw the blow dryer thing and be done with it. I'm happy now that my phone works. My phone is my lifeline to...It's my lifeline!

I'm ecstatic because school is really winding down. I gave my final presentation for studio on Thursday. It went pretty well. I wrote a paper and studied for an exam today. Just two more things and I'm done for a whole 16 days! Then summer school.

In any case, I am feeling a tad bit relieved. I am going out with my sorors to an old school A Phi A party, so that should be cool. I'll post pictures when I get back.

Tata!

Another phone down the drain...sort of literally

Sheila here...

So I went to the beach day before yesterday and had a great time. Nick's best friend Boris with his family came down from Washigton, DC and we've been hanging out for a few days. At the end of the day, I was washing off a bucket and shovel and my phone slipped right into the ocean. Argh! That meant yet another voicemail message that sounded something like, "Hey everyone. Once again my phone is broken. Please leave a message and I'll try to get back to you." Goodness gracious what is it with me and phones. It used to be that I couldn't keep a watch or an umbrella. You'd think that for someone so attached to her phone, I'd take better care of it. That will be fifty dollars to replace it. Argh! So instead of doing my massive amount of homework, I'm sitting here brooding about carelessness. Great :P :P

On a happier tip, the lovely ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha are happy to welcome the 24 neos of I.N.C.O.G.N.I.T.O. of Delta Eta Chapter at Florida Memorial Univerisity! We were also blessed with eight new Sorors of the Sigma Pi Chapter at Florida International University. Rounding off this happy note is the great news that the Deadly Delta Psi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha at Florida Memorial brought in 4 new members and the Treacherous Tau Delta Chapter at Florida International has 2 new members. It has been a very busy week indeed!

Back to work. Tata!

Skee Wee!
